Teespring x YouTube launch Merch Shelf customization at the individual video level

After releasing YouTube’s Merch Shelf in June 2018, thousands of creators rushed to Teespring to start selling custom merchandise under their YouTube videos. Until recently, creators could only organize 12 of their products on their shelf under all of their videos at a given time. Now, you’ll have the option to showcase different merch under each video or to remove merch from an individual video entirely. The new capability adds a whole new dimension to in-video product promotion, increasing conversion rates and buyer confidence.

How to organize your Merch Shelf

If you don’t choose a specific item order for individual videos, your merch will be arranged in the same way as your channel. The following instructions will tell you how you can choose the item order for individual videos.

To arrange your shelf for an individual video

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio beta.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Videos.
  3. Click on the video where you want to customize your Merch Shelf.
  4. In the left-hand menu, click Monetization.
  5. Click the Merchandise tab. You’ll only see this option if your channel is eligible.
  6. Click Organize on the ‘Status’ card.
  7. Drag, drop and order up to 12 items. Viewers may see fewer items depending on the device that they’re using. On desktop: The first 4–5 items will appear, and viewers will have to interact with the shelf to see more items. On mobile: Only the first item is displayed on mobile devices. Viewers can see the other items by interacting with the shelf.
  8. Click Done.
  9. In the top right-hand corner, click Save.

To go back to channel-level arrangement

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio beta.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Videos.
  3. Click on the video where you want to remove video-level customisation of your merch shelf.
  4. In the left-hand menu, click Monetisation.
  5. Click the Merchandise tab. You’ll only see this option if your channel is eligible.
  6. Click Organise on the ‘Status’ card.
  7. Drag and drop all items back to the inventory list or clear the selection.
  8. Click Save.

If you want to go back to an automatic arrangement, you will be able to do so at channel level.

Oh my, for the last few month I’ve been trying to tell YouTube and Teespring that this isn’t working properly! YouTube announced this feature a few month back. The problem is that you can only choose from 250 products! Not even 250 designs! So that limits you on what Merch you can choose for your older videos. Also as soon as a new design is uploaded to teespring another old design disappears from your YouTube shelf! Meaning it also disappears from the video! Teespring/Youtube you need to let us choose from more than 250 items to make this work! Don’t delete old merch from old videos!

Hi there, this feature allows you to choose which design or product you’d like to feature under individual videos. As a solution, you could display your older merch under your older videos and new merch under your most recent videos.

      1. SloggerVlogger says:

You really haven’t looked into this properly! The older merch was under the older videos, but it just gets removed and goes back to default when I upload new merch to Teespring! The items I choose for my older videos don’t stay put! They get deleted automatically. as soon as new stuff is added. I can’t choose the older merch either, because YouTube only displays 250 items, not more, not all designs!

    2. Annie says:

Shoot this answers my question then. I was assuming that my merchandise wasn’t loading correctly, I didn’t realize it was capped at 250 products. This is too bad. Hopefully it will be updated to allow for all products soon.

I have this setup and YouTube says I have sold hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise, but I haven’t been paid yet (this is the 3rd month). How do I get paid?

    1. Erica Bickel says:

Hey Herb, please log in to your Teespring account and select “payouts” on the left side of the screen.

  3. Annie says:

Hi, not all of my listings on Teespring are showing up in the items section. Is there something I need to do to let them show up?

    1. Erica Bickel says:

Hi Annie, please send a screenshot with your issue to [email protected] and they will assist you.

    2. SloggerVlogger says:

Exactly! That’s the same problem I have, only 250 items show! I can’t choose from all my design, but I’ve been trying to tell teespring this month ago. I already send screenshots.

  4. Pushpam says:

Hey, Tea spring. I have just started and feel great! Hope I can also sell my designs.Thanks.
