Teespring 2019 round-up

As the year draws to a close, we’re taking a look back at some of the most exciting Teespring events of 2019. From powerful platform partnerships, brand collaborations and new products—it’s been a year of firsts! Let’s take a moment to reflect on some of the special moments that helped make 2019 one to remember.

Brand partnerships

An exciting announcement came in October in the form of our first brand partnership with Champion. To kick off the collaboration, we handpicked six Teespring users to launch limited-edition designs printed on premium Champion products. We’re excited to report these drops have generated over $270,000 worth of products sales in just a limited amount of time. You can apply for access to Champion products here. In 2020 we plan to announce several new brand partnerships so watch this space!

Endless inventory

In 2019 we launched TeespringGo, our custom sourcing and fulfillment service that allows users to sell anything with Teespring. Plushies have been one of the hottest new products this year with Simon’s Cat selling over 5,000 pre-order units in September and Moriah Elizabeth’s Pickle the Dinosaur who sold over 9,500 pre-order units (so far) in the first 15 days of launch. Our new lapel pins also became a popular product this year, with top selling pins designed by YouTubers like Outside Xbox, Eggdog and Karuna Satori ASMR.

This year we also introduced 25+ new specialty products to our offering including jewelry, keychains, swimsuits, hats, backpacks, and more. We also integrated new items like sublimated t-shirts and sweatshirts into the Teespring Launcher for instant product creation.

Deeper platform integrations

In May of this year, we announced our exciting partnership with Twitch. The Teespring x Twitch extension enables users to sell merch directly to fans while streaming with additional features like integrated checkout and live stream purchase alerts through stream labs. We also become the only platform to offer subscriber-exclusive merch too.

The YouTube merch shelf enables users to sell their Teespring merchandise directly below their YouTube videos. Since launching this feature in 2018 there have been several exciting updates including the ability to customize merch on the video level and the new pin feature, which enables creators to ‘pin’ their merch at the top of chat while live streaming.

This year Teespring was also named one of 25 high-profile brands like Dior, Prada, Nike, and Zara, to gain access to Instagram’s exclusive, new feature—Instagram Checkout. This feature takes shoppable posts even further by enabling shoppers to purchase products using a fully integrated experience directly on Instagram. Soon after, we worked with the likes of Jared Leto and Ben Azelart to launch exclusive Instagram merch DROPs, enabling fans to purchase their limited edition merch directly through Instagram Checkout.

Industry events

Over the summer Teespring attended VidCon in California, where we hosted a sponsored session. With panel guests including our CEO Chris Lamontagne, Aphmau and Draw with Jazza, we discussed ‘selling merch, without selling out’.

We were also thrilled to attend TwitchCon this year along with 75,000 gamers and fans. We took advantage of this opportunity to get to know our newest users from the Twitch community, and even sponsored the Fullscreen party. Hosted at the Hard Rock Cafe, over 200 guests attended the party, including some of the biggest names in the streaming industry.

Enhanced features

This November we reached an important milestone in offering our users the next level of custom branded stores. This latest feature allows Teespring users to put their brand front and center by using all of Teespring’s end-to-end fulfilment services. Branded stores create a 360º shopping experience from URL, storefront organization, listing page, checkout and custom packaging. Branded stores are still in beta and being rolled out to users on a case by case basis.

New records

In 2018 we set a new record by becoming profitable for the first time in Teespring’s history. This year we followed up with the biggest Black Friday sales record since the company’s founding! During the 2019 holiday season we also hit new Boosted Network sales records by doubling Search Engine Marketing sales and unlocking new audiences through licensing partnerships like Freddy Mercury merchandise on Amazon. We’re looking forward to continuing this growth trend as we enter the new year.

2020 and beyond

2019 has been an incredible year and it wouldn’t have been possible without you, our amazing community of users. Thank you for trusting Teespring to help you create and grow your online businesses and personal brands. We’re looking forward to working with you in 2020 and beyond. Happy new year from the Teespring Team!

Any hints on what we could look forward to in 2020?

    1. Lucy Ford says:

Hey Bobby, we will be announcing lots of exciting things very soon, keep your eyes peeled!

  2. Jan says:

Why are such important features like “branded stores” not immediately activated for everyone? or is there a date when it is available for everyone?

That’s nice that you are talking about so many new things but if only those who are already advanced can use it, you are not making it easier for the beginners.

    1. Lucy Ford says:

Hey Jan, we’re always working hard to make all new features available to everyone–we roll out new features to smaller groups for testing to ensure the product is ready for all users. Keep your eyes peeled for more info on Branded Stores very soon!

  3. Madison Wroblewski says:

hey! for Moriah Elizabeth dinosaur plushie, can you order legit ones on any teespring websites, not just her shop?

    1. Lucy Ford says:

Hey Madison, unfortunately the pre-order for the Pickle plushie has ended now. Moriah’s website is powered by Teepsring, so it is legitimate!
