March’s top design themes you can sell throughout 2018

Now that we’re past the cutoff dates for Valentine’s Day it’s time to plan your next move! Keep in mind holidays like Mother’s Day happen on different dates within different countries so you can create designs now and continue selling them for months. There’s also potential to make these design themes evergreen so you can sell them year round. Continue reading to learn more!

International Women’s Day (March 8th)

Feminism and women’s rights have been trending theme on Teespring for months. As we approach International Women’s Day on March 8th consider creating feminist and girl-power themed designs your buyers will be proud to wear. Last year we saw a huge spike in feminist-themed design sales during the month of February and March.

Please be aware that certain events may have official names, logos, and slogans that have been trademarked. Remember to avoid using any sort of trademarked, copyrighted, or official design elements associated with these events in your designs. You should also avoid using any titles or language which could lead buyers to believe that your campaign is officially licensed or associated with the organizers of the event.  Learn more about Teespring’s new IP policy updates here.

Mother’s Day UK (March 11th)

It’s time to start preparing for Mother’s Day 2018! Don’t forget you can adapt your top selling designs for other global markets; once Mother’s Day UK has passed you can translate your designs for May’s Mother’s Day celebrations in the USA, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, and France. Learn more below in the “Bonus” section below.

We recommend checking out sites like Pinterest for design inspiration and remember to keep an open mind when it comes to niches—grandparents, auntie’s, LGBT parents, etc. can be celebrated on this day too. Also in the UK “mum” is the most common way to refer to mothers (similar to “mom” as we say in the US). Make sure to take this spelling into account and look for new ways to customize your Facebook ads for this special event (see Panupong’s tips on customizing ads for holidays).

St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th)

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated all over the world with the biggest celebrations happening in Ireland, USA, Australia, England, Belgium, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, and Germany.

Teespring sellers should focus on optimizing their St. Patrick’s Day listings by incorporating “St. Patrick’s Day” in their campaign title and/or description. Green is the most popular color associated with St. Paddy’s Day so be sure to offer green product options. This week we will temporarily enable rush shipping for our top selling green EU and US products until the St. Patrick’s rush cutoff dates (see chart below).

  • Standard Women’s T-shirt (Kelly Green)
  • Standard College Hoodie (Kelly Green)
  • Standard Unisex T-shirt (Bright Green)

Green US rush products to offer this year are:

  • Premium Tees (Kelly Green)
  • Gildan Hoodies S – 4XL (Irish Green)

Don’t forget some of the most popular St. Patrick’s Day design themes revolve around Irish surnames (O’malley for example), Irish heritage, beer, luck, leprechauns, etc. Americans are especially proud of their Irish heritage—during the 2015 census over 32 million Americans claimed Irish ancestry! Keep in mind family heritage can be an evergreen niche—meaning you can continue selling these designs after St. Patrick’s Day.

Father’s Day EU (March 19th)

Why not get a head start on your Father’s Day designs this year? First up we’ve got Italy, Spain, and Portugal celebrating Father’s Day in March. During the months of May and June—Germany, US, UK, Ireland, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, France, and Canada will celebrate Father’s Day too. How easy would it be to create your designs in English now then duplicate and translate them into each language later on? We know translating your campaigns can boost conversions and ad performance—plus it could get your listings prioritized for the Boosted Network (learn more below).

BONUS: Language hashtag

This year we plan to expand the Boosted Network into new European markets. Currently, there are few translated listings on Teespring so this means NEW translated campaigns can get prioritized for listing. Over the next several weeks we plan to add more #Swedish,  #German, #French, #Spanish, and #Italian listings…and in the future, we’ll want even more language variations. We’re asking sellers to ONLY add a language hashtag to a campaign description if the design is translated into that language. Optimize your listings by translating your campaign title and description too. Learn more about our free translation service in the Training Center now.

Please note, if you use hashtags incorrectly (for example add a #French hashtag to a campaign with an English design) all of your listings may be deprioritized as a result—meaning we will reject any of your submissions when running hashtag promotions in the future.

This probably sounds like a stupid question, but how do you put your hashtag on your site? Do you actually put it within the body of the text? Or, do you put it somewhere else? Like where would I put #MothersDay2018?
