Protect your designs with Teespring’s 4 newest IP updates

We are committed to protecting your unique and original content and preventing problematic sellers from accessing the site. The first step to protecting Teespring sellers’ designs was updating our IP policies and protocol. Since then we’ve developed several new features that will offer additional protection for original artworks and prevent problematic sellers from creating new accounts and listings on Teespring.

1) Payout verification requirement for new sellers

From now on, any new account that launches 5+ listings will be prompted to verify their payout information (through Paypal or Payoneer) before they can continue launching or selling. If they do not verify their payout information they will not be able to create new listings. This update will prevent spammers or other bad actors from being able to create numerous listings from new accounts.

This is the pop-up you’ll see if you need to verify your payout information

2) No duplicate payout information

Our team has been working closely with Paypal and Payoneer to ensure sellers cannot use duplicate payout information. Any disabled seller will not be able to use the same payout information to create a new account and moving forward no two Teespring accounts can have the same payout information. This update will help combat spammers and other bad actors (copycats) by impeding their ability to return to the site once banned and effectively prevent them from being able to launch new listings.

3) Design Guard (BETA)

Adding Design Guard to your Teespring listings will provide an extra layer of protection. Any seller caught copying a protected design will immediately be banned from Teespring and all of their listings will be disabled. During this beta phase, we are limiting access to all Teespring sellers with registered works (trademark and/or copyright).

Design Guard will help protect unique designs created by artists, influencers, brand owners, sellers, etc. on Teespring.  In the future, we may also be able to prevent bad actors from launching copies of these protected works on site.

If you have registered designs you may contact [email protected] to request Design Guard be added to your listing(s). Sellers need to provide the listing URL(s) as well as evidence of ownership (this can include a registration certificate or ID number and a screenshot or listing URL which proves the original launch date of the design). Teespring has the exclusive right to determine if a submitted design will be given protected status.

Please note, if you request to add Design Guard to a listing that is later delisted due to a violation of our Acceptable Use or IP policies you may lose access to this feature and your trust score may be lowered.

4) New sellers must earn their trust score

Having a high trust score can increase your daily launch limit and get you faster payouts. It also prioritizes your content for the Boosted Network and determines where your content can be listed (only the highest scores get access to Amazon for example).  New seller accounts without a sales history and accounts who have not verified their payout information will not receive a trust score rating. This will help ensure that only trusted Teespring sellers get access to powerful, sales-driving features like the Boosted Network.

Please note trust scores are awarded and edited manually. Sellers who have listings disabled due to keyword flagging or other automated content checks will not have their trust score impacted. In most cases if a trust score is lowered it is due to a seller being reported for copying an original design (either through an IP Claim or through a report sent to our support team) or if their listing is manually disabled by our team due to problematic content (i.e. designs that violate our policies).

If you have questions about why your listing was disabled please review our FAQ site. If you require further assistance you can contact our Seller Support Team via  [email protected]. Keep in mind our team will not provide information on how to bypass keyword filters and sellers who contact us for this information may have their account banned.

This is great. Teespring might be the biggest platform for stolen art and gave me a negative perception about joining. I have requested and have had 10 (of 30 still pending designs) that have been stolen removed. Next week I’ll finalize all the requests and keep an eye out for more popping up. Since you have been able to remove all of my requests, I decided to give Teespring a shot for myself. Its a shame that it happens but as a designer, I understand that it will. These extra steps you are taking helps ease our minds.
Just if you could shorten the delay of when the reported art is removed. Late is better than never………right?
