Your ultimate design guide for International Women’s Day 2020

2020 marks the 109th year since International Women’s Day was started. The official IWD website defines the day as “….a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.”

Feminism and women’s rights have been trending design themes on Teespring for a number of years—with the rise of new feminist and social movements we expect this trend to continue through 2020 and beyond. With International Women’s Day approaching on March 8th this year, now the perfect time to start creating designs for fierce feminist audiences who want their voices heard! Continue reading for trending design themes, guidelines, charitable organizations to support, cutoff dates, and more.

Trending design themes

IWD is a special day, so it can be difficult to decide on the message you want to convey in your design. Not to fear! Our in-house trends team have identified some of 2020’s most popular themes that will work perfectly for IWD 2020.

Eco-feminist

The Sustainability movement is a huge topic of conversation and activism this year, and it ties into IWD perfectly. Design elements include floral and nature motifs with strong statements.

Feminist bodies

Feminism champions equality for all and the breaking down of stereotypes. Design elements for this trend combines illustrations of the female form with forward-thinking feminist statements.

Girl Power

A nod to the women’s rights movement in the 1970s, featuring rainbow colourways, overlaid prints, powerful fist motifs and peace signs.

Future Feminist

This trend aims to empower the future generation of feminists with graphic statement kids’ tshirts and babygrows.

Please note: Whenever creating designs it’s important to keep copyright and trademark laws surrounding International Women’s Day in mind. No design can feature the official International Women’s Day logo. You should also avoid using any titles or language which could lead buyers to believe that your products are officially licensed or associated with the organizers of the event. The best International Women’s Day-themed designs focus on messages about feminism, equality, empowerment, etc. Violation of Teespring’s design policy will lead to account suspension.
