Hat design guidelines Teespring sellers need to know

With Father’s Day just around the corner, it’s no surprise we’re seeing hat sales on the rise. Learn more about how to add hats to your Teespring campaigns and get the hat design template by clicking the button below.

In this post you’ll find important tips to help make sure you get your hat designs just right. Please pay close attention to the information provided below to ensure your hats are launched as fast as possible—any designs submitted that do not meet design file requirements will be rejected.

Keep in mind you will need to create your own hat designs using software like Adobe Illustrator (hat designs must be in vectorized .eps file format). Teespring provides the design file template (available in the post linked in the button above), but we cannot create hat designs for you. If you need further assistance you can contact

Hat design do’s and don’ts

Hat designs are bit more complex than other garments; this is because designs are stitched (not printed). For this reason, it’s important to understand what designs work and don’t work.

Design line thickness can’t be smaller than 4pt; any fonts/texts used should be at least 18pts.

Go for simple designs, avoid using too much design detail.

Negative space between elements needs to be at least 5mm.

Avoid using gradient design effects.

Avoid using uneven prints.

Avoid including thin/small design elements.
